Abstract
Impression management techniques are communication techniques used by firms to manage the image they reflect on their audience. In this paper, I focus on anticipatory organizational impression management techniques used by companies in their communications with their investors. I find that different techniques are triggered in different contexts. I identify three major contexts in which techniques are used: acquisitions, strategic changes and performance disclosures. Besides, I see that symbolism is a recurring topic in the literature. Finally, I find several interesting directions for future researches to be investigated.
