Abstract
The aim of this project thesis is to help the European Investment Fund to gain further knowledge on what impacts the performance of the funds they have invested in. With over 20 years of track record, they are particularly intrigued to know the effect a team’s experience has on the performance of managing a fund. They want to determine whether funds perform differently if they are managed by teams that have experience working together or funds managed by teams working together for the first time. To achieve this, the work is divided into two parts. Firstly, a review of the existing literature about Private Equity and its key concepts will be done. The second part is constituted by a quantitative-based analysis of the database made available by the European Investment Fund. The database will be fragmented and analysed by using RStudio software. Different scenarios will be considered.
