Abstract
As economies and societies emerged, long distance maritime transportation permitted the development of globally oriented economic systems, with the creation of commercial empires. Ports play an important role in global logistics, as well as on the development of international trade. The different type of ports are Gateway port, Hub port and Second-tier hub. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the challenges faced by the Ecuadorian Posorja Port, located in the west coast of South America to become a Hub port in global logistics.
