Abstract
Following the sexual liberation of the sixties, the conception of love has drastically changed in western societies. An emancipated, egalitarian, and respectful approach liberates individuals from the previous sex-affective norms that governed social interactions. Alongside these positive aspects, a sense of turmoil arises, generating numerous uncertainties about how to approach love. Contemporary individuals find themselves without a specific model to follow for romantic relationships, facing a wide range of choices. Paradoxically, this abundance of possibilities burdens the individual, who aspires to regain stability. It is in this ambivalent context switching from liberation to disorientation that the intimate was born as a new conception of love. This study explores the dimensions of this new notion in the modern context, analyzing a corpus of three novels written by authors born after the sexual revolution and hailing from different countries. Its objective is to unveil the components of this amorous conception, referred to as "intimacy," characteristic of contemporaneity.
