- Abstract
- I spent five unique years inside Cyclotron walls. Some would call me crazy but I liked to walk in those long empty corridors. From the outside I surely looked like a wandering ghost in its castle but I was only absorbed by my thoughts. I spent five unique years in there but the last one was the most important. I've grown more this year than I have in the previous four. I've learned to use what I've been taught during those past years and to combine them so that something complete comes out. I've learned to work as a team with people coming from different backgrounds. I've learned to dispel the doubts and to focus on the most essential thing : everything is possible if you put enough effort (and time) into it. None of this could have been feasible without the precious help of my supervisor Pr. Marco Drewes. I want to thank him for the priceless time he gave me (especially when he wasn't supposed to) and the expert advice he offered me. His supervision helped me to make me feel part of the team. Thank you for giving me a chance ; I'll remember this hard but wonderful year by your side. Speaking of the team I would like to express my gratitude to the rest of the squad : Jan Heisig and Valentin Weber, respectively my (almost) second supervisor and the PhD that took me under his wing. I thank them for their essential help and answers to my questions when I needed them, for all those meetings during the year and the springboard to project me in the scientific world. A special greeting to Jan for the late coding sessions that saved lots of time. When I'm walking down the Cyclotron halls I always meet people who make me feel safe, who make me feel home. I want to thank them all, teaching staff, technical team and other students who bring life the Cyclotron deserves. Talking about other students I would like to thank Yannis Georis, Valentin Weber and Loïc Sablon for their time during the \textit{Study group} that helped me stay in touch with the outer world during the pandemic. A very special thanks to Yannis for our exchanges of ideas all year long. I want also to take the time to gratefully thank people (Yannis, Valentin, Justine) who read my thesis and helped me to finish it. Especially Pr. Fabio Maltoni and Pr. Celine Degrande who accept to be my official readers. Last but not least I thank my family for their emotional support during this hard period which Covid2019 pandemic made even more difficult.
