- Research has shown that mindfulness practice has an influence on individuals’ mental health and psychological well-being. Therefore, researchers investigated how mindfulness leads to changes in well-being thanks to new theories and measurements (Baer et al., 2006). The interest in the dispositional mindfulness field emerged from the mindfulness-based practice findings and was found to have a great impact in mindfulness-based practice. In relation to this purpose, the present study aims to evaluate and investigate the impact of dispositional mindfulness on mental ruminations and psychological flexibility. We used the French translation of the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ), Personalized Psychological Flexibility Index(PPFI) and Repetitive Thinking Mode Questionnaire (RTMQ) in a Belgian and French sample. Results revealed a positive significant relationship between psychological flexibility and dispositional mindfulness, a negative significant correlation between rumination and dispositional mindfulness and a nonsignificant correlation between psychological flexibility and ruminations. The findings suggest that further investigations might be necessary, especially for the CDRT subscale of RTMQ and the harnessing dimension of PPFI. Future research on the sequencing of involvement of mindfulness facets in training and symptom change is called for.
