- Abstract
- The thesis analyses the issue of improper investor conducts at the time of the making of the investment in the context of international investment law. First, the meaning of " improper investor conduct" is explored. Second, three distinct areas are examined, namely the legality of investor conduct, investor compliance with internationally accepted principles of corporate social responsibility, and the issue of investor corruption. The focus throughout is placed upon the approach of international investment law to these subjects, both in terms of the rules applicable to foreign investors and in terms of the decisions of arbitral tribunals.
