Abstract
The objective of this master thesis was to analyze the spread of sustainability and its concepts. The theoretical part is about understanding the emergence of sustainability in our society, through the analysis of the views companies adopt, but also on the drivers that influence them and the responses it entails. As the case study is about a natural cosmetics company active in Cambodia, the theoretical part goes on with an overview of the economic landscape in Cambodia and an analysis of the cosmetics industry overall. The practical part focuses on a company called Bodia Nature, selling natural cosmetics in Cambodia. After introducing the firm, analyses are conducted to determine how far Bodia Nature is advanced in its sustainability transformation. It turned out that its human resources management is not integrating sustainability concepts and similarly is not integrated into the strategy. Interviews were conducted and a survey was issued to gather information on the current state of the human resources strategy. That done, it was possible to identify areas where actions were needed to implement sustainable human resources management. In a word, this case study provides companies in least developed countries with a way to apply a framework enabling them to identify their weaknesses in terms of sustainable HRM and, in the end, come up with solutions to tackle them.
