- Abstract
- The flex PCB is a technology widely used in the frame of BLDC motors that proved its efficiency to improve the performance of the motor. The goal of this Master’s thesis is to study the possibility of adapting the work already for BLDC machines to the case of brushed DC machines which still have a persistent interest. More specifically, the first goal is to adapt winding topologies to the mechanical constraints of the brushed machine which currents are not controlled electronically. The second goal is to study the performance of such a machine by computing some quantities such as the torque and the motor constant by analyzing the different configuration that can be adopted by the motor during its rotation. A more refined analysis of the current flowing in the branches of the motor is also performed. Finally, a comparison between two motors with two different number of phases is also performed. The purpose of all of this is to study the feasibility of brushed DC motors with windings printed on flex PCBs. These motors could have any number of phases.
