- Abstract
- Is there a direct link between our eating habits and widespread health problems as so many food documentaries like to claim ? This dissertation focuses on one those food documentaries, Forks Over Knives, and the possible impact this kind of production may have on students’ eating habits. Through a quantitative survey and a one-month experiment, this small-scale research explores the perception students have of the documentary and the impact it may have on them according to their own self-reports. The selected sample of individuals, college students at the Université Catholique of Louvain, showed an active interest in documentaries and healthy food and a positive interpretation of the message carried in the documentary. They reported that watching Forks Over Knives had an impact on the perception they have of their consumption habits and the role it plays in their health. However, none of the participants notified an actual change in their behavior.
