Abstract
Education can be considered as a vital instrument in the development of an individual as well as the growth of an entire nation. Research on the topic “The Effects of Education on Agricultural Productivity” in Nigeria using a data set, General Household Survey, Panel 2018-2019, Wave 4 of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) examines how the highest qualification attained by the head of a household affects agricultural productivity. A multiple regression was used with a statistical software package, Stata17/SE to examine the impact of educational qualification on agricultural productivity for five different crops: Cassava, Maize, Millet, Sorghum and White Yam. Findings reveal that a higher qualification adds to the average productivity of a household in Nigeria in the range of 2574 naira/hr to 11566 naira/hr. Results also suggest additional increase in productivity for those household who received help from extension services. More extension services are needed especially in rural areas to improve agricultural productivity. Schooling should be promoted and supported to ensure increase in qualification attained that will also increase agricultural productivity, yielding to growth and development.
