- Abstract
- Due to the growing need of security, even in home networks, and the interest for the Internet of Things, we developed a prototype of a lightweight Intrusion Detection System able to run even on limited hardware devices. This system should analyze the inbound and outbound traffic of a home network, detect attacks and alert the user in order to take necessary precautions. To that purpose and to circumvent their limitation, we decided to build a collaborative network of detection units, sharing a common goal: detection of local and global threats. The distributed aspect of such a system also allows to detect attacks on larger scale compared to localized detection. Multiple architectures exist to perform collaboration for these systems, however two are explored more in depth: the central server and the fully-distributed organization. This whole prototype aims therefore to test the feasibility, viability and performances of such a program.
