Abstract
TV series have become high-budget productions and major cultural products in the recent years. There are many women at the helm of these series, such as Shonda Rhimes. Yet, women stand as a minority in the important positions of this field. For the purpose of this thesis, two TV series, written by women, have been selected, Sex Education written and directed by Laurie Nunn (2019) and Normal People (2020) written by Sally Rooney, and directed by Lenny Abrahamson and Hettie Macdonald. The analysis of these award-winning TV series is done in two parts: The first focuses on official communication, more specifically, on social media. The official accounts of these TV series and their streaming platform will be scrutinised. The second relates to media coverage and the aspects that stand out in these articles. The comparison between the two parts will bring the analysis to a close.
