Abstract

(fre) Ce mémoire de Master en Traduction est un sous-titrage commenté d’une collection de quatre documentaires nommée Ebola: The Story. Ce documentaire relate la propagation du virus Ebola entre 2014 et 2015 et l’histoire des personnes affectées. Entre 2014 et 2016, la plus importante et la plus mortelle épidémie d’Ebola jamais connue a ravagé la Guinée, le Liberia et la Sierra Leone. Ce dossier est divisé en trois parties : l’introduction, les sous-titres et les commentaires. L’introduction est une fiche informative reprenant les informations les plus importantes à savoir sur l’Ebola. Nous retrouvons alors les sous-titres du documentaire en français. Ces sous-titres sont ensuite commentés, reprenant toutes les difficultés rencontrées lors du sous-titrage. Ces commentaires contiennent le choix effectué, ainsi que la justification de ce choix. Les sources consultées durant la rédaction de ce mémoire sont listées à la toute fin de ce dossier. (eng) This master thesis consists of a commented subtitling of a collection of four documentaries: Ebola: The Story. This documentary chronicles the Ebola spread between 2014 and 2015, telling the stories of those affected. Between 2014 and 2016, Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone were ravaged by the biggest and deadliest Ebola outbreak ever seen. The thesis is divided into three parts: the introduction, the subtitles, and the comments. The introduction is a factsheet about Ebola, containing the most important facts to know about Ebola. Next are the subtitles of the documentary, written in French. These subtitles are finally commented, highlighting all the difficulties encountered during the subtitling’s work. These comments contain the choice made during the subtitling and the justification. The sources consulted to write this thesis are listed at the very end of the document.
