Abstract
enThis thesis offers a partial and commented translation of Sally Banes' Dancing Women: Female Bodies Onstage (1998) from English into French, providing a feminist perspective on the history of dance, particularly Russian ballets such as Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker and Swan Lake. In this work, which blends dance with feminism, I explore the representation of women in these classic ballets through this translation and an introduction to the same subject, while sharing my translation choices and the challenges encountered during the translation process. This thesis aims to deepen our understanding of dance and shed light on the issues surrounding female representation on stage, thereby contributing to a critical analysis of this timeless art form.
