Abstract
On 19 December 2009, the Republic of Serbia submitted its application for European Union membership, and in January 2014, EU accession negotiations with Serbia started. The aim of this master’s thesis is to find out if specific events triggered a change in the Serbian desire to join the European Union between 2009 and 2022, and if it was the case, to find out what event triggered that change. I based my research on the analysis of official discourse or political statements of the Serbian government and on news articles from Euractiv to obtain a broader vision of the whole process.
