Abstract
If the USA is “the most favored state in the world from the point of view of location”, according to Spykman, then Nepal’s location is its curse. It is a buffer state, situated in the Asian Rimland. Nepal’s unfortunate geographical location defines its relations with three great powers: China, India and the USA. Its efforts to shape its own destiny are minimized by their influences and grand strategies. Climate change is yet another external element that could threat Nepal’s security.
