- Abstract
- A lot of mathematical techniques are widely used in order to explore cardiac rhythm variability. This thesis is composed of two parts. Firstly, we will implement and apply such techniques, as Poincaré plots or power-law approximations, in order to distinguish patients who suffer from atrial fibrillation or congestive heart failure from healthy patients, based on their electrocardiograms. Secondly, we will use data collected at the hospital Saint-Luc (UCL), in Brussels, from patients suffering from atrial fibrillation. The goal is to establish a classification model, which can provide a prognostic test to determine whether or not patients will relapse after catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation.
