- Abstract
- Airport security controls are pivotal points where all passengers must pass through. Modeling the intricate movements of passengers within this space is a complex task. This thesis focuses on simulating crowd dynamics within the Brussels Airport security control using a tailored multi-agent model. Using the multi-agent paradigm enables the modeling of microscopic interactions, particularly inter-personal repulsion among pedestrians. Calibration of the model to the specific layout of Brussels Airport involves accounting for passengers’ spatial requirements, such as carrying luggage. This calibration process utilizes established metrics, including agent overlap and pedestrian density and positioning relative to real-world motion data. With the calibrated model, the thesis aims to evaluate the effects of preemptive guidelines on passenger navigation within the security control area.
