- Abstract
- This is a translation thesis of two chapters of the book : “The Lost Apple Operation Pedro Pan, Cuban Children In The Us, And The Promise Of A Better Future” which is about the Operation Pedro Pan, a program aimed at allowing the children of dissatisfied Cubans to leave the Island due to Castro’s policies. My work is divided in three parts. The first part consists in an historical introduction of the topic by describing the history of Cuba until the Cuban revolution, Castro’s rise to power and how Operation Pedro Pan was set up. The second part is my translation of the chapters I selected. They are about what happened to some of the children following their arrival in the United States. The third and final part of this work is my commentaries about the difficulties I encountered during the translation.
