Abstract
Company’s logistics is a cross-functional and strategic function that has a major impact on a company's business. Cost savings and optimization of this function is a major challenge for companies. This thesis attempts to identify sources of optimization at Philip Morris International's logistics service provider in Switzerland. It discusses the various methods to meet this challenge and the objective of this thesis, which is to propose feasible solutions to improve efficiency and optimize distribution planning and order preparation. By imposing a batch order quantity on customers or changing the delivery schedule, we can achieve significant cost reductions and improvements in logistics efficiency.
