Abstract
This master thesis aims to examine how responsible leadership practices have spread under the influence of an emerging environment in a post-communist country – the Slovak Republic. The thesis elaborates on 2 main research questions: (1) What is the role of responsible leadership in post-communist countries?, (2) How does the business environment impact responsible decision-making? These research questions are approached through integrating business leaders’ personal experience with the theoretical background from the literature review. Analysis of existing theoretical research on the topic of responsible leadership was conducted, in order to understand the subject topic and develop a research design. Furthermore, qualitative empirical research was undertaken, in order to find a link between the existing theory and business leaders’ practices in post-communist countries. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 business leaders operating in the Slovak Republic, whose experience, views and perspectives on responsible leadership served for the analytical part of this thesis.
