- Abstract
- Since the last financial crisis in 2008, poverty in developed countries has risen. In Belgium, poverty is now stabilising around 20%. Microfinance is one of the tools that can help people escaping from their situation of poverty. This paper is going to focus on one particular tool within microfinance : professional microcredit. The aim of this paper is to compare the situation of the Belgian and the Dutch professional microcredit market and to understand why it is so. In order to better understand the results of this comparison, this paper describes the whys and wherefores of microcredits activities in those two countries.
