- Abstract
- As environmental and transport issues are becoming more and more present, the usage of bicycles has become more relevant and interesting, even more in urban areas. For the past few years, the usage of bicycles has increased in many cities but one problem remains in order for this means of locomotion to become established: bicycle theft. This has become a huge problem even when cyclists are locking their bike on fixed points using solid locks. In this context, this work aims to solve this problem by proposing a novel tracking system for bikes combining multiple networks for increased coverage and multiple localisation systems to increase tracking availability. This master thesis compares multiple technologies in terms of coverage, accuracy and power consumption in order to offer an optimised tracking system, including its mobile application to provide a user interface and the needed backend architecture to link the tracker to the mobile application.
