Abstract
Warehouses are a key component of current day supply chain. Its efficiency is key to the economical well-being of number of corporation. Logistics has always been a cornerstone of such warehouses and warehouse management systems a key to ensuring their efficiency. New types of warehouses are designed on a regular basis to tailor their architectures to their needs. This project's goal is to analyse the possible applications and implications of existing concepts and apply them to a new type of warehouse. It will mainly be focused on the placement techniques more than the retrieval techniques. In addition, we will try to evaluate the results of simple and more complex healing techniques. We evaluate those techniques on multiple test cases to provide empirical confirmation on the effectiveness of each concept and provide insight on their strengths and weaknesses. Our experiment proves that for a given set of hypothesis, simple placement techniques alongside an additional healing step provide better results than more complex system for online problem of the sort.
