Abstract
Innovations are constantly reshaping the business world and imposing ever-changing thresholds to organizations, which are on the forefront of those dynamics. Simultaneously, harnessing their potential is precluded in the adaptation capabilities that governing entities leverage. In that respect, the present paper discusses the digital maturity of Tunisian board of directors. I base my research on ten semi-structured interviews with directors sitting on boards, gathering their perspectives about technology matters and assessing the boards’ general awareness about such issues. The methodology adheres to the decision making processes among boards following crises or innovation adoptions while considering governance mechanisms and organizational strategies related to digitalization as the bedrock for awareness. After analyzing and comparing the ensuing input, it became clear that boards are lagging behind in addressing digital innovations due to several structural issues mainly revolving around governance. Key themes emerging from the interviews can be discussed further with normative studies specific to the Tunisian ecosystem to promote the organizations' sustainability through overreaching governance mechanisms.
