- Abstract
- This thesis presents an innovative and comprehensive comparative analysis of the educational systems at the University of Jyväskylä (JYU) in Finland and the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL) in Belgium. By examining the pedagogical approaches, student support mechanisms, internationalization efforts, and institutional rankings of these two esteemed universities, this research aims to uncover the similarities and differences that define their educational frameworks. Structured into two main parts, the thesis first delves into the theoretical foundations of the Finnish and Belgian educational systems, providing a rich context for understanding the unique characteristics of each institution. The second part employs a mixed-methods approach, combining existing data analysis with firsthand data collected through surveys of students and professors. This dual methodology enriches the findings and validates the theoretical insights with real-world experiences.
