- An IPO could be a way to finance ventures craving for money in Belgium. This financing method could both stimulate the underperforming stock markets in Belgium and facilitate the development of innovative entrepreneurial companies, which could be, in turn, a boost for our Belgian economy. Of course, it is necessary to balance the positive and negative effects of this financing method in order to truly understand if this could be a good option for Belgian ventures. The firms that we believe need this help the most are startups, or more precisely, the later stage startups more commonly known as scale up companies. Seeing that the technology-based sector is becoming more present and topical, we have also decided to only concentrate our research on this attractive field. These kinds of innovative businesses are growing incredibly faster than the average thanks to their scalable business models. Therefore, they need to raise capital rapidly and several times (Mohout, 2015). All in all, according to us, this type of firm would be more likely to appeal to an IPO. As a result, we believe it is interesting to research “How to support IPOs to facilitate the financing of tech scale ups in Belgium?”.
