Abstract
The automotive glass industry was struck hard during the Covid-19 pandemic as it is largely dependent on car sales. The industry is dominated by a few big player which makes competing hard with one another. In this respect, cutting down all type of costs can enable a player to take an edge on its competitors and keep up with the competition race. AGC Automotive Europe is one of of these mastodons in the field. This master’s thesis is focused on trying to understand and reduce its distribution costs in its Western European theatre of operations. With the help of the DMAIC (define, measure, analyse, improve, control) framework and a specially developed tool in Microsoft Power BI, AGC’s distribution costs will be thoroughly studied. In the end, practical solutions to reduce distribution costs and their expected payoffs will be detailed and discussed, as well as the benefits and limits of the Power BI tool for the management.
