- Abstract
- The aim of this thesis is to cover a new innovation paradigm that emerges nowadays: the innovation 3.0 paradigm. Innovation 3.0 goes beyond the Open Innovation paradigm, also depicted as innovation 2.0. Note that innovation 1.0 corresponds to the Closed Innovation paradigm. Firstly doing a state of affairs regarding the 1.0 and 2.0 paradigms, we then introduce the new paradigm, which is based on three main concepts. First, innovation 3.0 must be embedded. A firm must integrate certain types of communities in order to act more innovatively. The challenge for the organization is to involve these communities in the innovation process. Secondly, innovation 3.0 must be symbiotic. Through symbiotic relationships with external stakeholders, an organization will act innovatively thanks to effective collaboration. Thirdly, semantic innovation, thanks to the semantic web technologies, provides tools that facilitate the sharing of innovation information. Spreading the access of such knowledge is the aim of semantic innovation. In order to illustrate these theories, we have realized a case study about a specific organization. Indeed, Odoo S.A. is a Belgian company evolving in the sector of the digital economy. As a fast growing SME, we wanted to see to which extent such an organization may stick to the principles of the innovation 3.0 paradigm. Therefore, we have analyzed the organization's ecosystem, in order to highlight the embedded, symbiotic and semantic characteristics of the innovation 3.0 paradigm.
