- Abstract
- This innovative cross-case study looks at the current and future implementation of digital technologies in the context of Circular Supply Chain (CSC). A qualitative approach is used to study five actors from the beverage, telecommunication, lightning, electronic refurbishment and food industries. The set of technologies is composed of the data collection (IoT and RFID), data integration (Blockchain and Big Data) and data analysis (AI, Machine Learning and Big Data analytics) categories. Through an innovative use of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), some interesting results about digitalization of CSC are found such as the importance of collaborations, the critical size of the circular operations or the complexity of the data. Other characteristics already known within linear models i.e., company size and industry are observed as also influencing the technology implementation in circular models. Some paths of research about technology within CSC are also proposed, highlighting a lack of studies around the subject.
