- Abstract
- Take Eat Easy (referred to as TEE hereafter) is a Belgian start-up company active in the restaurant delivery business. The deliveries are being performed by bicycle couriers. In January 2015 they were active in 2 cities: Brussels and Paris. Both cities had a different problem concerning the delivery fleet. In Paris there are not enough couriers to deliver all the orders in time. In this paper a recruitment system has been developed. This system allows TEE to recruit a maximum of qualified couriers at a fast pace. In Brussels the problem is opposite to Paris’ situation. There are too many couriers: not all of the couriers get to work. Furthermore, most of the couriers do not perform at the desired level. That is why a second system has been developed in this paper: a performance appraisal system. This system monitors and evaluates the performance of the couriers. Follow-up actions have been put in place to improve the performance based on the observations. As a result of the implementation of both systems, the courier shortage in Paris is completely gone and the overall performance in Brussels has improved.
