Abstract
The goal of this thesis will be to create, develop and adapt beamforming optimization models aiming to minimize the sidelobe in the Lp-norm sense. An initial model will be developed, that will conveniently be formulated into a second order cone program. We will show that the use of the Lp-norm choice will enable achieving a better SNR and directivity than the usual infinity norm, as well as a lower average signal value out of the main lobe. A comprehensive performance and sensitivity of this method will be performed, in order to characterize the solution behavior with respect to the different parameters. In the last chapter, different features will be added to that method. A first model optimizing jointly the SNR and the SLL will be proposed, followed by a second model integrating a weighting function on the pattern. Finally, a last formulation involving power cones will be developed.
