- Abstract
- Blockchain has seen an incredible growth in interest the last 10 years. This thesis investigates whether blockchain is a business model. If so, it would enable to innovate on a company's business model. The mapping of 10 blockchain native companies and 4 interviews with blockchain entrepreneurs, consultants and investors concludes that blockchain in itself isn't a business model because it is often just a non-core technological feature. However, we nuance and postulate that token economics could be one, because it answers the 4 fundamental questions of a business model: who, what, how and what is the value.
