- Abstract
- Alison Bechdel is the American author of the two graphic novels "Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic" (2006) and "Are You My Mother?: A Comic Drama" (2012). Through these two memoirs, the author investigates herself and her family history. As she questions her identity throughout the pages, she discovers herself in a narrative and visual way. This thesis will highlight the different areas that have influenced her identity construction and the particular way in which the author reproduces this research in her works both graphically and narratively.
