- Abstract
- Nowadays, the Internet has taken an important place in the lives of many people. Among all these people are found a good number of students and professors who, too, understood that this technology could be useful to them. The Internet has therefore seen the emergence of learning management system which helps the different institutions to provide a course management space online. In the case of the Université catholique de Louvain, the Moodle platform is used for several years. This platform was chosen for its Open Source and modular approach. It is in this context that this thesis is born. The goal is to develop an extension that could become a useful tool for MoodleUCL users but also for all users of Moodle around the world. It is thanks to its growing and committed community that the platform is so successful. On the basis of work already done, we had the wish to create a report allowing to use all the information that the platform collects on its users and this, to be able to followup the student. Student tracking is a complex notion and will therefore be fully developed during this writing. The final extension of this thesis will allow students to obtain statistics on their use of Moodle compared to the others students. Indicators have been set to indicate their current state of involvement. The professors will have an overview of their classes and will also be able to obtain more information through tools set up. The tool produced is functional but has performance issues. These come from the amount of information stored in the database, process all the data takes some time. A part of this paper will present the different problems but also the possible improvements proposed to produce an even more effective tool.
