Abstract
This dissertation tries to elucidate the impact of the Internet use in the context of healthcare and personal empowerment. As a result of a review of literature, an approach is suggested using the online health information seeking behaviour as a mediator to the empowerment process in order to promote health. This approach consists of two different types of interventions: top-down and bottom-up methods.
