Abstract
enThis essay focuses on the issue of language standard in Quebec. It relies on a multidisciplinary approach combining sociolinguistic and discourse analysis. The research question this essay aims to answer is: “What is the status of public debate on the language standard in Quebec in the local press”? To answer this question, articles from the contemporary Quebec press have been gathered and analyzed. The results allowed to identify the main positions in the debate as well as various general trends from the last twenty years.
