- Abstract
- This thesis explores the primary challenges and trends within the consulting industry, focusing on four critical areas: digitalization and AI, evolving pricing strategies, talent retention, and deep specialization. The research aims to provide actionable recommendations for consulting firms to enhance project outcomes and client satisfaction. Employing a mixed-methods approach, this study integrates a systematic literature review with semi-structured interviews with industry professionals to ensure a robust and comprehensive understanding. The findings highlight the transformative impact of digital technologies and AI on consulting practices, necessitating new skills and the adoption of innovative tools. Additionally, there is a significant shift towards performance-based pricing models, aligning fees more closely with the tangible benefits delivered to clients. Effective talent retention strategies, such as comprehensive professional development opportunities and flexible work policies, are critical for sustaining competitive advantage. Deep specialization presents both opportunities and challenges, requiring a balance between niche expertise and broad knowledge to remain adaptable in a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) world. These insights suggest that consulting firms must invest in continuous education, develop proprietary AI tools, maintain high-quality data management systems, and adopt adaptive pricing models. Furthermore, fostering a supportive organizational culture and leveraging technology partnerships are essential strategies for navigating the complexities of modern consulting. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the consulting industry’s evolving landscape and offers practical recommendations for improving project outcomes and client satisfaction.
