- Abstract
- In today’s world, a great number of companies end up working in industries that reached market saturation and/or market maturity. A solution that firms turn to is the development of services aimed at keeping creating profits and increasing the margins. However, is not always easy to introduce these services, as the companies may lack the capabilities and skills to first develop the services, and secondly, to manage their implementation in the company’s portfolio. Furthermore, the literature about this shift from products towards services does not consider how industrial companies deal and overcome this issue. For this reason, the objective of this study is to analyse alternative methods from organic growth (e.g., mergers and acquisitions) in the context of industrial companies, and more specifically in the elevator industry, to understand if they are a profitable and exploited solution.
