Abstract
Today's society faces many challenges in terms of sustainability. The banking sector has a key role to play given the capital it carries and its impact on society. As a result, this thesis examines the impact of the current retail banking sector in Belgium. To do so, a specific impact framework is constructed to establish whether or not banks are succeeding in meeting society's expectations and assuming their responsibility with regard to sustainability. In particular, this thesis focuses on NewB, a recent cooperative bank that claims to bring ethical solutions and added value to the current banking sector.
