- Abstract
- This thesis addresses the revitalization of territories affected by deindustrialization and economic decline, with a focus on the region of Centre near La Louvière in Wallonia. The study examines the challenge of how to rejuvenate areas plagued by economic, social, and environmental issues. By repurposing mining infrastructure for geothermal energy production, this project aims to breathe new life into these regions. The proposed solution involves converting former mining sites into geothermal energy hubs, thereby fostering surface revitalization. This initiative will be complemented by the creation of an urban park, designed to connect villages and establish a heritage trail. This dual approach seeks to not only provide sustainable energy but also to enhance the social and cultural fabric of the community, promoting economic recovery and environmental sustainability.
