Abstract
Climate change is a profound multi-dimensional global crisis which has a cross-cutting aspect and is viewed as a ‘risk multiplier’. Climate change causes different kinds of problems (temperature, water, wind-wise) that have an impact on the heritage of England. To fight against the effects and impacts of climate changes on heritage, several actions have been undertaken. In order to act for the protection of heritage, some requirements are to be followed. First, it is important to mention that there are four different mechanisms accountable for heritage protection. All heritages do not enter the requirements for the aforementioned method. However, it does not mean they do not have any value. In fact, different heritage values can be attributed to them. Second, it is necessary to follow six conservation principles. Third, to manage historic environment, seven steps are to be followed. Fourth, eight policies have been written to help make decisions about climate change. The U.K. signed the Paris Agreement of 2015 to limit and cut greenhouse gases and created legislative drivers to act against climate change. English Heritage funded the UK Climate Impacts Programme, published policies, guidance, launched a website, does research, works with partners and raises awareness of the threats of climate change one heritage. Historic England took action when it comes to woodland and forestry, minerals, the environment and the marine environment. It launched projects and it is working with the service of education. The National Trust created different projects and programmes, boosts the sector’s job with programmes, pressures the Government to take action and encourages people to participate to change. The three organisations communicate about climate change through articles with iconography and subheadings in which the problems and the consequences of it, as well as the actions undertaken to tackle it, are described.
