Abstract
Summary: Aim of the study: This study aims to provide a consensual definition of running-related injuries in recreational runners by asking a population of recreational runners using the Delphi method. Methods: We sent three rounds of questionnaires to the recreational runners. The answers of the first questionnaire that received more than 60% consensus were used in the making of the second questionnaire. The same technique was used between the second and third questionnaire, but answers needed a consensus of 75% to be chosen. The last questionnaire was the one that defined the definition. This definition had to have a consensus of 75% of the participants for it to be valid. Results: 95 participants completed the first questionnaire and were included in our study and the last round ended with 60 participants. The first 2 rounds of the questionnaire were used to get the participants’ characteristics of a running-related injury. The final questionnaire had the definition we created using the characteristics that most of the participants agreed on. Conclusion: Through this study, we reached a consensus of running-related injuries in recreational runners that could be used in other studies while identifying all the criteria of an injury that are valuable to recreational runners.
