Abstract
The market of the postal operators has changed with the apparition of the Internet, leading to different communication streams. bpost, the Belgian postal company, is in constant evolution to adapt itself to this market change. These last years, the company identified a market opportunity with the delivery of parcels. As of today, specific rounds have been added to the existing rounds of distribution to cope with the delivery of parcels. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze how bpost could integrate the delivery of these parcels at the same time as mail into new green vehicles. bpost is seeking for a better logistics and at the same time being a sustainable company. The thesis is based on three different approaches (quantitative, qualitative and field observations) to evaluate the project implementation to find alternatives to the current distribution. From this study, it results that there are many advantages to integrate the green vehicles into the fleet of bpost, and this for many reasons: logistics, costs, ergonomics, CO2 emissions and legal requirements point of views.
