- Abstract
- An investigation on how to exploit new data to infer information about rotation models of small bodies. The data in questions are the shape of shadows cast by topographical features on itself. We reproduce the presumed shape of the shadows boundaries as should appear on a picture of the body, then compare the reproduction with the real picture. Through variations of the rotation model, we quantify signatures of the model on the comparison. The methodology is here applied to Phobos to assess relative quality of three different rotational models.
