Abstract
According to United Nations projections, the percentage of the world's population aged 65 years old and above is set to rise from 10% in 2022 to 16% in 2050. European countries will experience this demographic shift in the coming years. Migration could potentially mitigate some of the challenges posed by an ageing population. However, the rise of far-right political movements to power in some European Union member countries could compromise this solution, as these groups often advocate alternatives to migration.
