- Abstract
- In this paper we study a series of stories written by two women belonging to the forgotten female side of the Generation of '27 in the framework of production immediately prior to the Spanish Civil War, namely María Teresa León and Luisa Carnés. The main task of the analysis is to identify the poetics employed by both authors in order to discern whether there is a split in the figure of the implicit reader as defined by Wolfgang Iser. In the stories there are two dimensions in which this splitting can occur, since two children's stories and two adult stories by each author have been selected. Secondly, it will be determined whether a parallel splitting occurs between the two pairs of stories and, finally, it will be analyzed, along the same lines of readerly duality, whether the recovery of the Castilian storytelling tradition is a determining factor in this splitting.
