Abstract
The main objective of this master thesis is to set up analytical models enabling to evaluate the evolution in terms of perfomance of conventional cellular networks after the integration of promising technologies. Therefore, device-to-device communications as well as energy harvesting-aided device-to-device communications are consecutively analyzed. The proposed approach is based on mathematical expressions derived from the stochastic geometry theory. The presented model mainly focusses on underlaid device-to-device communications and gives indications to carefully choose between the uplink and downlink band. A new and more general mathematical framework accounting for strong line-of-sight components is also established using Rician fading. Based on that model, the limits of stochastic geometry are demonstrated. Finally, the replacement of conventional batteries by rechargeable batteries powered using microwave power transfer at the device-to-device user is studied.
