Abstract
The name of David Aubert almost indirectly induces the notion of terminological polysemy so many functions are attributed to him, which paradoxically does not make his exact role within the literary and book scene of his time more precise. On the contrary, it’s difficult to establish with precision his responsibility in the production of manuscripts. It seems possible to clarify these blurred notions by studying the prologues of the volumes associated with David Aubert, even if they contain texts from other authors. It’s within the prologue that all this tension between the status of copyist and that of writer, which are the two most questioned roles in general, is visible. It therefore seemed appropriate to us to study the particularities of David Aubert by means of a comparison of the prologues that are generally attributed to him. This comparison aims at establishing the characteristics of the preambles he has potentially written, but also at questioning his role as an actor in the literary field.
